Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 31, 2026

TheEdgeJournal ("Company," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and your rights with respect to your data when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Services"). Please read this policy carefully. If you have any questions, contact us at Support@theedgejournal.com.

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to all users of TheEdgeJournal worldwide. It covers our website, web application, mobile application (where applicable), and any other services we operate under the TheEdgeJournal brand. It does not cover the practices of companies we do not own or control, or people we do not employ or manage.

We take a privacy-by-design approach: we collect only the data we need to provide and improve our Services, and we do not sell your personal information to third parties.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Data you provide directly

  • Account information — name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form) when you create an account.
  • Profile & preferences — optional profile details and trading preferences you add during onboarding or in account settings.
  • Trade & journal data — trades, notes, tags, screenshots, and other content you enter or import into the platform.
  • Payment information — billing details collected and processed by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
  • Communications — messages or inquiries you send to our support team.

2.2 Data we collect automatically

  • Log & device data — IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device identifiers, and referring URLs.
  • Usage data — pages and features viewed, clicks, timestamps, session duration, and other interaction events.
  • Cookies & similar technologies — see Section 6.

2.3 Data from third parties

  • OAuth / social login — if you sign in using Google or another supported provider, we receive basic profile information (such as name and email) as permitted by your settings on that platform.
  • Broker integrations — if you connect a supported broker or data source, we receive the trade data you authorize us to import on your behalf.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and authenticate your access
  • Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the Services and develop new features
  • Process transactions and send billing-related communications (invoices, renewal notices, payment failure alerts)
  • Respond to your support requests, feedback, and inquiries
  • Send you transactional and product communications (e.g., onboarding emails, important feature updates, security alerts)
  • Send marketing communications where you have opted in, or where we have a legitimate interest and applicable law permits
  • Detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent transactions, abuse, and other illegal activities
  • Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect the rights, property, and safety of TheEdgeJournal, our users, and the public
  • Conduct analytics and research to understand product usage and improve user experience (using aggregated or de-identified data where possible)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the Services you have subscribed to (e.g., account management, billing).
  • Legitimate interests — processing necessary for our legitimate business interests such as fraud prevention, security, and product improvement, provided these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • Consent — where we ask for your consent (e.g., marketing emails or optional analytics cookies). You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.
  • Legal obligation — processing required to comply with applicable laws and regulations.

5. Sharing of Your Data

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data only in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers — trusted third-party vendors who process data on our behalf (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processing, email delivery, analytics, customer support tooling). These vendors are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only as instructed.
  • Legal requirements — when required by applicable law, court order, or governmental authority, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of TheEdgeJournal, our users, or others.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, asset sale, or other business reorganization, provided the successor entity agrees to handle your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • With your consent — for any other purpose with your explicit consent.

6. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies (such as web beacons and local storage) to operate and improve the Services. Specifically:

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for authentication, security, and core platform functionality. These cannot be disabled.
  • Preference cookies — remember settings such as language, theme, and display preferences.
  • Analytics cookies — help us understand how users interact with the Services so we can measure and improve performance (e.g., page views, feature usage).
  • Marketing cookies — used to deliver relevant advertising or measure campaign effectiveness, only where you have given consent.

You can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings or via our cookie consent tool (where available). Please note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Services. For more detail, please see our Cookie Policy or contact us.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. We also retain data as necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax and accounting requirements)
  • Resolve disputes and enforce our agreements
  • Maintain security logs and fraud prevention records

When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period (typically 90 days), except where we are required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention. Aggregated and anonymized data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest, access controls and authentication, and regular security reviews. Despite these measures, no system is completely secure. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of information transmitted to or stored in the Services.

If we become aware of a security breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify you and any applicable supervisory authority in accordance with our legal obligations.

9. International Data Transfers

TheEdgeJournal is operated globally and your data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country.

Where required by applicable law (e.g., GDPR), we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for cross-border transfers, such as:

  • Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission
  • Transfers to countries recognized by the European Commission as providing an adequate level of data protection
  • Other lawful transfer mechanisms as applicable
